Lifetime Achievement honour for Crerar at 2019 Scottish Legal Awards

19th March 2019

Harper Macleod co-founder and chairman, Professor Lorne Crerar, will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2019 Scottish Legal Awards which take place later this week.

The Award, sponsored by The Times, comes in recognition of Professor Crerar's long career at the forefront of Scottish law.

Together with Rod McKenzie, he set up Harper Macleod in 1989 from the business division of Ross Harper & Murphy. Today it is one of the largest Scottish-headquartered legal firms, with 63 partners and turnover of more than £26m from its five offices, and has sponsored major events such as the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Always ready to adopt an innovative approach, his firm was one of the first to appoint a non-lawyer chief executive, and has been quick to respond to opportunities and chages in the market, which has been critical to its growth.

Professor Lorne Crerar has also produced a number of reports for the Scottish Government and serves as chair of Highlands & Islands Enterprise. He will accept his latest honour in front of 530 guests from across the legal industry at the annual awards dinner held at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Thursday 21 March.
