McQueen Legal makes partner promotion - on maternity

1st September 2016 | careers

Edinburgh solicitors and estate agents McQueen Legal today announced the promotion of Pamela McKeand to partner.

The promotion comes when Ms McKeand, who qualified in 1999 and joined McQueen Legal in 2013, is currently off on maternity leave. The firm, which has 20 staff, 95% of them women, and is led by an all-female partnership, said it invests considerably in its staff and understands the pressures facing females in the legal profession today, with all staff being offered flexible working schemes.

Partner Mary McQueen commented: “As a firm of only female partners for a long time, we are delighted to be promoting another female solicitor and helping her to break through that glass ceiling. Reports still show a gender gap in the UK’s workforce and despite equal numbers of men and women studying law at university, there are relatively few females who reach the top of the big law firms. From work environments to career progression it is important that the legal profession starts to nurture the talent it has developed. Pamela will be an asset to our clients and will further strengthen the firm’s residential conveyancing and estate agency services.”
