  4. New chairman for Miller Samuel Hill Brown

New chairman for Miller Samuel Hill Brown

10th January 2019 | careers

Glasgow solicitors Miller Samuel Hill Brown LLP (MSHB) have appointed Marie Macdonald as their new chairman.

She succeeds founding partner Michael Samuel, who continues as a consultant with the firm. She becomes the first woman to chair MSHB.

Accredited as a specialist in employment law, Ms Macdonald is also co-chair of the Labour & Employment Group of the International Lawyers’ Network, which provides MSHB’s clients with access to legal services in 67 countries on six continents.

She commented: "I am honoured to be trusted by my partners to guide MSHB as we navigate through a much changed legal landscape and an ever-changing business environment. We are passionate about delivering a first-class service to our clients and we value the trust our clients place in us. Michael was instrumental in building the firm, along with our strong management team, and his contribution has been immeasurable. I am pleased that we and our clients will continue to benefit from his expertise and wealth of knowledge in his new role within the firm. I am very much looking forward to the next stages of our growth and excited about our future."

Mr Samuel added: "I have enjoyed a fantastic 15 years as chairman and I am delighted that Marie is my successor. She is highly experienced and a much respected lawyer and colleague. Clients need their lawyers to be professional, always available, trustworthy, commercial and pragmatic. Marie and her partners are all of that and more. Under her chairmanship, I expect MSHB have their best years ahead of them."
