Rab Forman awarded MBE for political service

15th June 2015

The solicitor who now chairs the Scottish Conservatives has been awarded an MBE for political service in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Robert (Rab) Forman, a partner in the Edinburgh office of Blackadders since it acquired his previous firm of McKay & Norwell, was honorary secretary to the party until being elevated when his predecessor, Richard Keen QC, was appointed Advocate General for Scotland.

Mr Forman also currently sits on the Council of the Scottish Law Agents Society, and is chairman of the East of Scotland Salvation Army Advisory Board. He has previously served on the Council of the WS Society.

Among other honours, the CBE was awarded to Carole Oatway, chief of executive of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, who lives in Glasgow, for services to victims of crime, and to Yvonne Strachan, head of equality at the Scottish Government, for services to equality in the UK. Alan Gilfillan, assistant chief executive at the Scottish Parliament, was awarded the OBE for public and parliamentary services in Scotland.
