Rural business partner joins Gillespie Macandrew

4th October 2016 | careers

Gillespie Macandrew has appointed Murray Soutar as a partner in its land and rural business team from 3 October.

Mr Soutar joins the Edinburgh-based legal firm, which also has offices in Perth and Glasgow, from Brodies. He has extensive experience of practice in both Scotland and New Zealand, acting for individuals and rural businesses, with particular expertise in a wide range of rural property matters, agricultural tenancies, commercial development and renewable energy, as well as the purchase, sale and leasing of farms, estates and forestry and the sale and management of salmon fishing rights.

Chief executive Chris West commented: “We have been watching Murray’s progress for some time and are delighted to welcome him to the business and look forward to his experience and expertise helping to drive our land and rural business team to even more success."

He added: "We are actively recruiting in a number of areas and always keen to acquire people with experience, talent and energy like Murray.”

Mr Soutar's arrival brings the firm's partner strength to 21.
