Scottish Legal Awards event returns to Glasgow after 10 years

22nd September 2017

The Scottish Legal Awards national celebration will return to Glasgow in 2018 for the first time in more than 10 years.

Doubletree by Hilton Hotel will be the venue on Thursday 15 March for the 15th annual award ceremony, for which entries are now invited.

Sponsored by Scott & Co, next year's awards feature a refreshed list of categories and two new members on the judging panel.

A new category for “Government Legal Team of the Year” will allow councils, local government, agencies and public bodies to apply in a wide ranging category for the first time. For the private sector, firms are encouraged to enter the new Corporate Deal Team of the Year for corporate financiers delivering all aspects of transactional work, and the Criminal Defence Firm of the Year award will recognise a specialist firm dealing in defence work.

New on the 12 strong judging panel, under the continued chairmanship of Shonaig Macpherson, are Gordon Jackson QC, Dean of the Faculty of Advocates and Neil Taylor, Director for the Office of Advocate General for Scotland. William Cameron, Scott & Co's national enforcement director in Scotland will also join the panel for the first time.

Firms have until noon on Friday 24 November 2017 to submit their entries and the judging panel will meet in December when they will also decide on the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Managing Partner of the Year.
