Scottish tax lawyer among Pinsent Masons' partner promotions

14th March 2017 | careers

Glasgow-based tax specialist Christine Yuill is one of 16 partner promotions announced today by international law firm Pinsent Masons.

Ms Yuill specialises in corporate and business tax, and employee share incentive schemes. She advises on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, reorganisations, property tax issues including VAT and SDLT as well as the tax aspects of enterprise investment scheme (EIS) and venture capital trust (VCT) investments.

With women making up 68% of the promotions, Pinsent Masons has surpassed its 2018 target of achieving 25% female representation among its partnership, a year ahead of schedule. Its longer term goal is 30% female representation.

Specialists in the firm's five global sectors, energy, financial services, infrastructure, real estate, and advanced manufacturing and technology make up 80% of those promoted.

Barry McCaig, head of the Glasgow office, commented: “Christine’s extensive knowledge of complex tax issues which impact on our corporate client base is an important part of the legal services we offer across Scotland and I am delighted to welcome her to the partnership.”

Pinsent Masons' senior partner Richard Foley added: “We have worked hard to ensure a level playing field and all of those who have achieved this personal landmark have done so on merit and share our wider commitment to sector focus, legal excellence and innovation. This group will play a critical part in helping us achieve our vision of being seen as international market leader in our global sectors."

The firm currently has more than 400 partners globally, and 1,500 lawyers among its total workforce of more than 2,500.
