Seven new partners in Brodies' latest promotion round

4th May 2015 | careers

Brodies, Scotland’s largest law firm, has announced the promotion of seven more lawyers to its partner status, along with six to associate and nine to a newly-created "managing associate" level.

The new partners are Tom Boulton-Jones (corporate), Laurence Douglas (retail & leisure, real estate), Matthew Farrell (business disputes & asset recovery), Charles Livingstone (public law & regulatory), Marion MacInnes (banking & finance), Chris McDaid (commercial real estate), and Murray Soutar (land & rural business). They bring the number of partners at Brodies to 89.

Advanced to managing associate are Ricky Cannon (business disputes & asset recovery), Suzanne Hopkinson (energy & infrastructure), David Jack (commercial real estate), Graeme Leith (land & rural business), Sarah-Jane McArthur (energy & infrastructure), Paul McLaughlin (corporate & commercial), Siobhan Sullivan (personal injury), Paul Wallace (retail & leisure, real estate) and Morna Walton (commercial real estate).

New associates are Ian Gibson (commercial real estate), Gillian Mair (employment), Adam McKinlay (insurance & risk), Fiona Scott (land & rural business), Isla Stewart (energy & infrastructure) and Lindsay Watson (personal & family).

Christine O’Neill, chairman of Brodies, said: “Our newly promoted partners have impressed our clients, demonstrated excellent legal and leadership skills, and are attuned to the marketplace and future direction of the sectors they serve. We also welcome our latest group of associates as they make their next career progression in the firm – we’re looking forward to all their contributions to Brodies and our clients over the years ahead.”

Commenting on the new managing associate role, she added: “This new position acknowledges that a number of our experienced associates are already performing important management roles across the firm in delivering our client services. This may include managing teams or being the lynchpin for the delivery of transactions.”
