Society and Parliament offer this year's student blog prize
Law students nearing compltion of their degree, or in their Diploma year, are being invited to take part in this year's blog competition organised jointly by the Law Society of Scotland and the Scottish Parliament.
Three weeks’ paid work experience in the Scottish Parliament’s Legal Services team, and a £500 cash prize, are on offer for the Diploma student, or an LLB student in their final or penultimate year, who enters the best blog, aimed at young voters in Scotland, on the topic: "What role do committees of the Scottish Parliament play in the legislative process and how can young people engage with those committees?"
No particular word limit is specified, but entrants are advised to remember that engaging blogs are generally short and to the point.
The winner will be picked on the basis of:
- ability to keep the content relevant;
- creativity and originality shown;
- depth and accuracy of the topic analysis;
- knowledge of the Scottish Parliament’s work and strategies; and
- the ability to break through the legal jargon to convey a clear, simple message that our youngest voters can engage with.
The deadline for entries is Friday 6 April and these should be submitted to oliviaparker@lawscot.org.uk.
