Society campaign will promote quality of solicitors' services

13th October 2017 | law society of scotland

A new advertising campaign to promote the work of Scottish solicitors as trusted, regulated legal professionals is about to be launched by the Law Society of Scotland.

Running from Monday 16 October, the print and digital campaign will also raise the profile of the Society’s web-based find a solicitor search tool for the public, used by almost half a million unique visitors every month.

Advertisements, created by Edinburgh agency Taste Design, will show some of the situations that solicitors help their clients with, including advice on wills, personal injury, power of attorney, buying a new home and growing a business. In addition to running a digital campaign, the ads will feature on trains across Scotland and in stations in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen throughout October and November.

Laura Butcher, head of communications at the Society, commented: "We're excited about the launch of our new campaign. Thousands of people contact the Law Society every month online and by phone, looking for a solicitor's advice on their particular circumstances. We have recently improved our online search function to help both members of the public and businesses find a solicitor to help, whether they are searching for advice in a certain area of law or looking for a local solicitor, safe in the knowledge that they are choosing a regulated legal professional.

“Our find a solicitor search lists every practising Scottish solicitor and is updated daily, so whether a solicitor moves to a new job, provides a new service at their firm, qualifies as a solicitor advocate or becomes an accredited specialist, they can ensure that people find them on 'Find a solicitor' by updating their membership profile.”

"Find a solicitor" results are listed randomly in each search carried out, giving all firms an equal chance of being listed. The online search tool also helps with cybersecurity by allowing would-be clients to check their solicitor is a registered, regulated professional.
