SYLA announces AGM and summer barbeque

17th May 2016

New office bearers and committee members will be elected at the annual general meeting of the Scottish Young Lawyers' Association on Thursday 26 May.

President Emma Boffey completes her term of office at the meeting, and also to be filled are the positions of vice president, treasurer and secretary, along with seven non-executive committee positions. In line with the constitution of the SYLA, only current committee members who have served on the committee for at least 12 months may stand for President. All other positions are open to the membership.

The meeting will be held at the offices of Anderson Strathern LLP, 1 Rutland Court, Edinburgh EH3 8EY, from 6pm. Arrangements were made before it was known that there would be a clash with the Law Society of Scotland's AGM the same evening.

After the meeting, from 7pm, the SYLA will host its annual summer barbeque at Indigo Yard. Tickets priced £10 can be obtained by clicking here.

Ms Boffey commented: “The committee has always been lucky to attract hardworking, innovative and dedicated young lawyers who volunteer to give something back to the profession. The work of the SYLA is varied. We need people who are good at organising events, PR and media, design, advertising and IT and communications. We are uniquely placed to address representation issues and politics surrounding the law and if this interests you then we would love to have to on board.”
