Thorntons hires family law director

29th May 2019 | careers

Tayside-headquartered legal firm Thorntons has appointed Lucy Metcalf as a director in family law in its Edinburgh office.

An accredited specialist in family law, Ms Metcalf has practised exclusively in litigation and has specialised in family law for the majority of her 25 year career since qualifying. She joins from Lindsays, where she held a similar position.

She advises on all aspects of family law, with particular expertise in cases involving difficult financial issues, especially company and partnership valuations and pension sharing, and extensive experience in negotiating and drafting complex minutes of agreement dealing with the disposal and transfer of business assets.

She is a member of the Family Law Association and of Consensus, the Scottish Collaborative Family Lawyers Group, and a trustee of national adoption agency Scottish Adoption.

Thorntons has also appointed to its Land & Rural Business team Heather Auld, formerly of Lindsays' Glasgow office, as a senior solicitor based in Cupar, and Rebecca Ellwood, who joins from Macnabs in Perth, as a solicitor based in Perth.
