Two sheriffs appointed for Tayside

Two new sheriffs have been appointed to the courts of Tayside, Central & Fife.

Gillian Anne Wade QC and Simon Geoffrey Collins QC will serve as floating sheriffs in the sheriffdom, having been nominated by the First Minister on the basis of a report by the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland.

Gillian Wade qualified and practised as a solicitor in Scotland and England before joining the Faculty of Advocates in 1998. She has been a legal convener of mental health tribunals since 2004, advocate depute since 2008, head of the National Sexual Crimes Unit since 2011 and a Queen’s Counsel since 2013.

Simon Collins qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and as an advocate in 1995. He was a part-time tribunal judge (social security appeals) from 2002 to 2006, an advocate depute from 2007 to 2009, standing junior counsel to the Advocate General from 2009 to 2011, and has been a Queen's Counsel since 2011, a part-time sheriff since 2011 and a salaried judge, First-tier Tribunal since 2012.
