Weightmans adds Scottish employment partner

22nd June 2015 | careers

UK law firm Weightmans has hired an employment partner to join its growing Scottish business, in the person of Elaine McIlroy.

Ms McIlroy joins from MacRoberts. Before that she was with Dundas & Wilson for 12 years, including five years in London. She is dual qualified in Scotland and in England & Wales.

Stuart McFarlane, partner and head of the commercial team at Weightmans LLP in Glasgow said: “An increasing requirement from our client base for specialist advice in Scotland made this a strategic growth area for us. Elaine comes to Weightmans with an impressive track record, and specialist knowledge of business immigration – a complex and rapidly changing area of law – and so we look forward to working with her to grow the business further.”

In response to rapid expansion of its Scottish business, the firm relocated its Glasgow office to James Sellars House at 144 George Street in the spring. In the last year, the Weightmans team in Scotland has doubled in size, and the firm predicts further growth in the next 12 months.
