Anna Clements
I have worked in the third sector for over a decade, specifically supporting those with lived experience of Dementia, and have a personal passion for enhancing dementia care.
My background includes leading dementia-friendly community projects, serving as a dementia advisor, co-founding Alzheimer Scotland’s ‘Action on Rights’ team, and supporting families through the National Dementia Advisor Service.
As Head of Dementia, I lead Age Scotland’s Dementia programme, which works with people affected by dementia and unpaid carers to shape policy and practice in Scotland. The programme includes funding opportunities, and the Dementia Friendly Communities Network. These initiatives support grassroots organisations and community groups in creating inclusive spaces and innovative projects. By combining advocacy, campaigns and influencing with grassroots support, we aim to foster more inclusive communities and ensure that the voices of those affected are at the heart of our work.
In addition, I oversee Age Scotland’s Dementia Training Service, which provides dementia and carers’ rights training across Scotland. This service offers training for individuals, community groups, and organisations, helping them better understand dementia and ensuring carers know their rights.
