Darren Deery

Darren graduated from Edinburgh University with an LLB (Hons) in 2006.

Darren has been a Partner in the Clinical Negligence Team at Drummond Miller since 2016 and sits on the Management Board. He is recognised as one of the leading solicitors specialising in medical negligence in Scotland. He is ranked Band 1 by Chambers UK and as a leading individual & recommended lawyer by the Legal 500.

He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in a wide variety of claims and has a particular interest in birth damage cases. He has been involved in some of the highest value and most complex medical negligence cases in Scotland in recent years. He has been described as “very tenacious and extremely thorough” with a “fantastic bank of knowledge”.

He is invited annually, as a guest speaker, to the Medical Law & Ethics LLM course at Edinburgh University. He has taught for a number of years on the Diploma in Legal Practice at Edinburgh University. He is a member of various Court appointed groups to consider important matters relating to medical negligence and personal injury actions such as the drafting and introduction of a Compulsory Clinical Negligence Protocol / the mechanism and rules for introducing Periodical Payment Orders and the implementation of Chapter 42A in the Court of Session (particularly relevant to clinical negligence actions).
