David Coutts

David is a well-regarded family lawyer, dual accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in both Family Law and Child Law.

David has acted for individuals, and their spouses, from all walks of life; from farmers to sportsmen, doctors to entrepreneurs. This has seen him deal with a diverse and complex caseload, covering a broad range of family law issues.

He is particularly skilled in resolving high-conflict, child-related disputes and prides himself on resolving his cases in an amicable manner.  Inevitably some cases end up in court, and when that happens, David is experienced in representing clients in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland, and regularly instructs Counsel in the Court of Session, where necessary. He has also acted for several local authorities and private schools.

David is also a qualified Trauma-Informed Practitioner and has a clear understanding of the effect of trauma on individuals in difficult situations, allowing him to tailor his approach to assist clients navigate the difficult situations they may face.

David is an affable lawyer who offers pragmatic, solution-based advice to his clients enabling them to move forward productively. David prides himself in communicating in a straightforward manner, alleviating stress from his clients during difficult periods of their lives.  This allows David to generate an excellent rapport with his clients and remove any apprehension they may have in speaking with a lawyer, which for many, can be the first time they have had to do so.
