Drew McCusker
Drew followed his passion interest in human rights, completing his LLM and a UN internship in Nairobi before qualifying as a solicitor in Scotland. He specialised in litigation, working in in-high street and commercial firms, before moving to the public sector, first as a Children’s Reporter then as an investigation solicitor at the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry. His recently started his new role as solicitor for the Scottish Government, working in the Equalities & Criminal Justice Division.
At the beginning of his legal career, Drew established and ran The Glass Network, an award-winning organisation for LGBT+ legal professionals in Scotland, then went on to produce The Glass Cast, a podcast interviewing role models who have advocated for LGBT+ equality in law. He has been a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Equality and Diversity Committee, as well as a judge at the Law Awards of Scotland, as well as an award winner himself for “Role Model of the Year” at the Scottish Diversity Awards.
