Mark Morton

Partner & Solicitor Advocate
BTO Solicitors

Mark is a Solicitor Advocate with 20 years of experience in handling commercial disputes. His workload includes policy advice, contract disputes, property claims, product liability matters and construction claims for commercial and insurance based clients.

Mark is also part of the Marine, Energy and Ports Team and works on shipping cases for commercial clients, P&I Clubs and international marine insurers on issues arising out of ship collision damage to port infrastructure, contractual disputes and arrestment of vessels.

Mark is noted for being an imaginative problem solver. He is able to grasp complex issues and to drive disputes to a satisfactory conclusion. He handles a large number of cases in the Court of Session in his capacity as a Solicitor Advocate and recent work includes: pursuing compensation for several insurers affected by flood damage claims; defending proceedings relating to defective construction works; complex piling claims; pursuing and defending claims relating to damage caused by faulty products; cross border product liability claims; providing policy advice on a substantial fire claim where indemnity was refused and handling several claims relating to damage to several Scottish ports.

Mark’s approach is to focus on providing sound advice, imaginative solutions and delivering results for clients.
