Mark Stephen

BBC Scotland Broadcaster

Mark Stephen is one of BBC Scotland’s most prolific broadcasters. Over a career spanning 40 years he has presented hundreds of programmes, on a wide range of subjects. His work has taken him from the Arctic North to the deserts of Namibia. He currently hosts the long-running outdoor magazine programme, Out of Doors and the social history series Our Story. Formerly he fronted BBC Scotland’s environmental series Fresh Air for 8 series and was a frequent conference speaker on subjects such as renewable energy and low-carbon economies. He is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Scottish Conservatoire) and a Fellow of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. He lives with his wife Jean on a smallholding in rural Aberdeenshire.
