Morna Coutts

Partner (Private Client)
Thorntons

Morna leads our large Edinburgh private client team and also provides focussed tax advice to clients across our business. She has considerable experience in delivering specialist succession planning, asset protection and capital taxation mitigation advice to wealthy clients, particularly landowners and entrepreneurs, and she is also involved in the preparation of Wills and in the winding up of large, multi-faceted estates. She enjoys building multi-generational relationships and collaborating with other advisers to identify sound and practical long-term solutions for her clients, whose requirements are often complex.

A particular area of interest for Morna is trusts and she drafts bespoke trust deeds for individuals and also for private and public organisations.  She advises on, and manages, a large number of trusts, including trusts for vulnerable clients, and is involved in providing strategic UK tax advice to the trustees and UK resident beneficiaries of offshore trusts.

Morna is a full member of the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners.
