Professor Craig White
Craig is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Director of Profc.org Limited, an independent consultancy providing specialist psychological assessment, care, treatment and expert opinion for adults.
He has a First Class Honours degree in psychology (B.Sc, Glasgow, 1992), awarded prior to completing his professional training and Doctor of Clinical Psychology (ClinPsyD, Manchester, 1995). He also has higher degrees in Psychological Medicine (PhD, Glasgow, 2006) and Medical Law (MML, Glasgow, 2014). He is on the statutory Practitioner Psychologist register of the Health and Care Professions Council as required by the Health Professions Order 2001, and is registered in both clinical psychology and health psychology.
He has worked as a clinical psychologist for 30 years in a range of clinical and research positions and, since 2004 has held several senior management and clinical leadership roles in NHS Scotland and at Scottish Government - spanning a range of health policy, strategy and legislative development programmes. He led the development of the organisational duty of candour legislation in Scotland, Chaired the Ministerial review required by Section 35 of the Mental Health (Scotland) Act 2015 and has held several senior operational and strategic roles within the Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates.
He acts as an expert witness in the areas of personal injury, historical abuse, asylum, immigration, healthcare governance and clinical negligence cases. He is Honorary Professor at the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences of the University of Glasgow and is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies, where he is also accredited as an International Trainer. He is a Member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and an expert in treating psychological disorders with Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Method of Levels Therapy.
