Sally Magnusson
Author and broadcaster Sally Magnusson has presented a range of BBC programmes, including until recently Reporting Scotland on BBC1.
She is the author of eleven books, including four critically acclaimed novels, the most recent of which, The Shapeshifter’s Daughter, a reimagining of the Norse myth of Hel of the underworld, was published in November 2025.
Her bestselling memoir, Where Memories Go: Why Dementia Changes Everything has been credited with improving knowledge and understanding of this widespread brain condition. Out of that experience with her mother she founded the music and dementia charity Playlist for Life in 2013.
She was the Evening Times Scotswoman of the Year in 2018 and has honorary degrees from five universities. In May 2023 she received a MBE for her dementia work.
