Sarah-Jane Macdonald

Legal Director (Private Client)
Gillespie Macandrew LLP

Sarah-Jane is an Associate in the Private Client team at Gillespie Macandrew LLP and advises individuals and families on all areas of succession & tax planning and assists families dealing with estates and trusts.

Sarah-Jane has a particular interest in complex trusts and estates and will guide trustees and executors through issues surrounding cross-border estates, working with HM Revenue & Customs on claiming reliefs for agricultural and business property, and varying entitlements to maximise tax efficiency.

Sarah-Jane also works with trustees and executors when issues arise in the process of estate or trust administration with a view to resolving disputes, and has experience working with executors through mediation.  Sarah-Jane was also awarded the STEP Advanced Diploma in Trust Disputes with Distinction in 2017.

Sarah-Jane is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) having gained her STEP Diploma with Distinction and won the STEP Worldwide Excellence Award in Trusts Law & Practice in 2015 having achieved the highest score in her year.
