Legal, social and technological changes are shaping the work of conveyancers across Scotland. We are still in the midst of a housing crisis, which has had a negative impact on the property market. Day One
An overview of key changes in the residential, commercial and rural property markets.
A series of case studies on the use of legal tech in conveyancing, hosted by Ally Thomson who will be joined by a panel of experts.
Breakout rooms
Modern property search solutions are empowering conveyancers to work more efficiently, but also presenting new risks (e.g. where clients may perform their own searches using legal technology services). This session will focus on the risks and the benefits.
The Scottish Government have announced proposals to enhance protections for tenants in social housing through the Housing (Scotland) Bill. We will look at the potential impact of these changes on landlords and tenants.
A workshop on best practice techniques for conveyancers in ensuring client satisfaction and responding to complaints.
Day Two
A presentation covering the main challenges for conveyancers, and highlighting the money-laundering risks of property transactions.
A session focussing on the changes to statutory pledges under the Moveable Transactions (Scotland) Act 2023, and the impact that these changes have had in practice.

This workshop will focus on public relations and client care for legal professionals, so that you can make the conveyancing process as stress-free as possible for your clients.
A practical session showcasing the latest features in case management software designed to make conveyancing more efficient and effective.
A special presentation by the Registers of Scotland on their most recent work, and the relationship between the Registers of Scotland and conveyancers.
A forecast of what the future might bring to the legal profession, and how to best prepare your conveyancing practice for change.
