This session will delve into current proposals to reform cyber security law in the UK through the Cyber Security and Resilience (Network and Information Systems) Bill, continuing our series of events highlighting the work we do to respond to potential changes in the law.
This free one hour session will be hosted by Jo McLean (Partner) and Rebecca Roberts (Legal Director), both of whom are from Burness Paull and members of the Law Society's Privacy Law Sub-Committee.
As well as an opportunity for you to share your views with Rebecca and Jo, we will cover:
The Law Society’s strategic goal of influencing legislation and policy to create a fairer, more just society and to ensure good law that will work in practice.
The work our Privacy Law Sub-Committee has done to engage with justice stakeholders and politicians in response to the proposals in the Bill.
An analysis of the main provisions contained within the Bill, which aims to improve UK cyber defences and protect wider essential public services.
This session offers a chance for practitioners, and those in the legal profession with an interest in cyber security law more generally, to hear about how the Law Society has responded to the proposals and to share your views on the potential and lasting impact of this UK-wide legislation here in Scotland.
