Law Society virtual fundraising efforts raise over £9000 for Camphill Blair Drummond

15th December 2021

Virtual team walks from John O’Groats to Lands’ End, step challenges, online bake sales and through the keyhole competitions have been just a few of the virtual fundraising efforts of Law Society staff throughout the pandemic, raising money for their charity partner of the year, Camphill Blair Drummond.

Lynda Ferguson, Appeal Co-ordinator at Camphill Blair Drummond, said: “I was delighted when I was approached in 2019 by an employee of the Law Society and advised that they would like to nominate Camphill Blair Drummond to be their Charity of the Year 2020. Then after a few months of building up this special partnership in person and making plans for employees to come and visit and be part of our Corporate Volunteering Project, life for us all changed dramatically in March 2020 as we all went into lockdown.  This however did not dampen enthusiasm and creativity and funds continued to come in through their various fundraising campaigns.  On behalf of Camphill Blair Drummond I would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone for their support in raising £9,168.82, which will go towards funding sports equipment, for a future project. Absolutely fantastic. “

Lorna Jack, outgoing CEO of the Law Society said: “I’d like to thank all of my colleagues for the absolutely tremendous level of fundraising over the last 24 months, all of which has been done virtually. Whilst we did a lot of online bake sales, Easter bonnet competitions, quizzes and dress up Fridays, I think my favourite activity was the January 2021 John O’Groats to Lands’ End challenge where four teams of colleagues walked 5,800 miles between them over the month. We also took this as a great opportunity to promote getting out in daylight hours at lunchtime in one of the darkest months – it was a fantastic team event, where we all walked individually within the guidelines, but kept in touch and gave encouragement over WhatsApp groups and our intranet. It really was inspiring!

“I am delighted we raised so much over what has been a really difficult couple of years for charities, and I’m so proud of my colleagues for achieving it.”

Law Society staff vote for a new charity partner each year to focus their fundraising efforts. The yearlong partnership with Camphill Blair Drummond started in November 2019 and was extended for a further 12 months until November 2021, due to the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic.

Law Society colleagues have voted to support Scottish Autism for the next 12 months.
