DWF relocates in Edinburgh, and announces hires

8th November 2022 | practice management , careers

DWF has relocated its Edinburgh office from Lochrin Square to grade A premises at 2 Semple Street in the city's business district.

The global law firm has leased the second floor, which is now home to about 70 legal and support professionals, most of whom work in a hybrid way between home and the office.

Its team have been involved in the design from concept to completion, contributing to focus groups to help shape the design of the new office to ensure it is collegiate, sociable and flexible to meet their working needs. Space has been created to help improve wellbeing, with smart and functional work and social areas; environmentally low impact materials have been selected in the fit-out; and the building's sustainability credentials include a BREEAM rating of "very good", an EPC rating of A and a Platinum CyclingScore.

The move follows the arrival of four senior hires to the Edinburgh office in recent weeks. Specialist construction lawyer and former DWF director, Jonathan Gaskell has rejoined the Construction teamĀ as a partner from MacRoberts; solicitor advocate Lauren Rae, previously with Thorntons, has joined as a director in Dispute Resolution; Liana Di Ciacca is a director in Finance & Restructuring, joining from Shoosmiths; and Michael Gilmartin has become a director in the Public Sector/Commercial team.

Caroline Colliston, executive partner for DWF in Scotland, commented: "This is the latest phase of our Future Workplace programme to ensure our offices work in the best way for our teams. With this move in Edinburgh, we're reducing the floor space, but making that space work so much better for our needs.

"In 2021, our Glasgow team relocated to The Sentinel and I'm delighted that our Edinburgh colleagues will now benefit from the fantastic 'destination workplace' that has been created at 2 Semple Street."
