Finalists revealed for 2016 Scottish Legal Awards

5th January 2016

A total of 35 legal firms and organisations feature as finalists in the Scott + Co Scottish Legal Awards 2016, the shortlist for which was announced today.

Fifty nine entries are chasing the 15 awards to be presented this year, the 13th of the awards' history.

CMS, DLA Piper, Harper Macleod, MacRoberts and Thompsons are the five firms contesting the top Firm of the Year title, but a number of smaller firms feature in the more specialised categories.

The most popular categories this year proved to be a new category for Excellence in Client Care (the six finalists include McQueen Legal of Edinburgh, NewLaw Solicitors of Glasgow and Scullion Law of Hamilton), followed closely by Community Contribution. Six solicitors are listed for the Rising Star of the Year award, two of them from Shoosmiths.

CMS are finalists for a total of four titles; Shoosmiths, Thompsons, Harper Macleod and MacRoberts for three each, and nine more firms along with the RBS legal team are each seeking two.

The sole finalists, and winners, of the Managing Partner of the Year, and Paralegal of the Year, prizes, will be announced at the awards dinner, which takes place on Thursday 24 March at the Assembly Rooms in George Street, Edinburgh.

Decisions on the winners have been agreed by a 12-strong judging panel chaired for the first time by Shonaig Macpherson.

The awards are operated in support of It’s Good 2 Give and LawWorks Scotland.
