"Lex Factor" battle of the bands contest revived

17th January 2023 | Charities

Lex Factor, the battle of the legal bands competition, has been revived with the event set to take place in March this year.

Originally organised by the Law Society of Scotland, the first contest was cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. Now, with the support of the Society, David Murdie of Aberdein Considine and Ryan Macready of Macdonald Henderson have revived the event, which will take place on 16 March at the O2 Academy in Edinburgh.

The event brings together six bands made up of representatives of Scotland’s law firms and legal institutions for a night of friendly competition. The bands are:

  • The Argyll Cycle
  • Blink 182 + VAT – Aberdein Considine’s house band
  • Bail’her’ Swift
  • BP/DC – Burness Paull’s house band
  • The Paroling Stones – BTO’s house band
  • The Submissions

The judging panel includes the Lord President, Lord Carloway; award-winning Scottish musician and Scots language advocate Iona Fyfe; Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Justice Keith Brown MSP; and chief executive of the Law Society of Scotland, Diane McGiffen.

Aberdein Considine has sponsored the event, which forms part of the firm’s ambition to raise £40,000 for charity in its 40th year in business. The firm has already raised £30,000 for four charities providing health and medical care to babies, children and their families. Money raised from Lex Factor will help fund everything from daily activities, youth work and play initiatives to lifechanging equipment and bereavement support.

Tickets can be booked here. Please contact David Murdie at lexfactor@acandco.com if you have any questions or to discuss bulk purchases for 10 or more tickets – discounts are available.
