Partner promotions mark Thorntons' new year

6th January 2021 | careers

Thorntons Law has begun the new year with two newly promoted partners and a new legal director.

Gary Mannion from the Personal Injury team in Dundee, and Lucy Metcalf from the Family Law team in Edinburgh, have both been made partners, while Janice Napier has been appointed to legal director in Business Law in the Commercial Property team in Perth.

Mr Mannion trained at Thorntons to become a qualified lawyer and has gone on to become one of the firm's most senior and experienced personal injury lawyers. An accredited specialist in personal injury law, he manages a team of paralegals and junior solicitors.

Ms Metcalf has practised exclusively in litigation and has specialised in family law for the majority of her career. She joined Thorntons’ Family Law team in May 2019, and is a member of Consensus, the Scottish Collaborative Family Lawyers Group, and a trustee of adoption agency Scottish Adoption.

Ms Napier, a specialist in commercial property, joined Thorntons in 2006 and advises on all aspects of commercial property work.

Congratulating all three, Colin Graham, chairman at Thorntons, commented: "It’s an absolute privilege to recognise the commitment, leadership and expertise of our colleagues.

"I admire everyone across the firm for their outstanding work ethic amidst such a challenging backdrop last year and it’s fantastic to start the new year with two new partners and a new legal director who will play integral parts in our aspirations for the year ahead. I trust they will continue to deliver exceptional service to our clients and further establish Thorntons as one of the leading law firms in Scotland."
