UK law firm Shoosmiths will move its Glasgow office this coming Monday, 18 October.

Shoosmiths has leased around 5,000sq ft at The Garment Factory on Montrose Street in Glasgow’s business and innovation district.

With 13 legal advisers and partners now based in Glasgow, in addition to its main Scottish office in Edinburgh, Shoosmiths has made clear its intention to expand in Scotland. Real estate partner Barry McKeown was recently named as head of the Glasgow office, alongside the promotion of Alison Gilson to lead the Edinburgh base, both under Janette Speed who is now head of Scotland for Shoosmiths.

Mr McKeown commented: “I am very pleased to see our expanding team of talented lawyers and support staff moving into our new Glasgow premises at The Garment Factory. Though we’ve worked from a small hub on West Regent Street since 2019, this lease of significant attractive office space in the heart of Glasgow marks a step-change in our operation and ambitions in the west of Scotland.”

Ms Speed added: “Shoosmiths has a terrific blue-chip client base in Scotland. It’s testament to the sustained hard work of our talented and growing legal team that we also have a very robust pipeline of new business in Glasgow. A proud city that will soon host COP26, I believe it offers very exciting opportunities for progressive businesses like Shoosmiths in the months and years ahead.”
