Scotland Europa

The rules set by the EU will continue to influence the law and regulations in Scotland and therefore we will continue to have an interest in the work done there. Equally the EU will have significant influence over the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement which will continue to affect a wide range of policy areas that will impact on the profession. The subsequent establishment of common UK Frameworks illustrates the many areas that will continue to be (to varying extents) influenced by the TCA.

Engagement with the EU and member states in Brussel is also an excellent opportunity to build on our wider international objectives of promoting the work of the Society and supporting the core business of the Law Society of Scotland by learning from other law societies and jurisdictions.

To enable us to address these challengers the Law Society is a member of Scotland Europa which is a membership-based organisation that promotes Scotland's interests across the institutions of the European Union and to the representatives of Europe's regions and Member States. This gives us a permanent presence in Brussels.

For further information on any aspect of our international work, please contact International Policy Executive Adam Marks at adammarks@lawscot.org.uk.
