Pursuers Panel vacancies

Scottish solicitors with expertise in professional negligence are invited to join the Pursuers’ Panel.

The Panel

The Pursuers' Panel is made up of solicitors selected by the Law Society based on their expertise in dealing with professional negligence claims. Solicitors on the panel assist members of the public with advice about negligence claims against solicitors and, where appropriate, assist other solicitors already advising members of the public with these types of claims

Membership of the panel allows members to advertise that they are able to deal with negligence cases however, each panel member can decide whether or not to accept instructions from individual clients.

The panel is listed on the Law Society’s website and we refer members of the public to the panel when we receive relevant enquiries.

Selection criteria

Applicants should have:

  • A willingness to assist members of the public in making claims against solicitors.
  • A detailed knowledge of Scottish professional negligence claims. In three years’ time all panel members will require to have a Law Society of Scotland accreditation In Professional negligence law, however, this is not an absolute requirement for this current round of recruitment.
  • Experience of professional negligence claims which are complex, specialised and possibly of significant value.
  • An understanding of the practices and procedures of the Scottish Courts in dealing with professional negligence claims including Commercial Actions in the Court of Session.

If you are interested in applying, please complete the application form and send it to fjrobb@lawscot.org.uk
