Join us in March for our ‘lunch and learn’ seminar designed to help legal professionals strengthen their cyber resilience for a potential breach.

Law firms around the world are a primary target for cyber criminals and no organisation is immune. 65% of UK legal firms have been a victim of a cyber incident, but despite the need to protect ourselves, 35% of firms do not have a cyber mitigation plan in place* – leaving them vulnerable to financial, legal, and reputational risks.

Led by Calum Baird, Digital Forensics and Incident Response Consultant at Systal Technology Solutions, this session will guide you through the fundamentals of creating an effective Cyber Incident Response Plan (CIRP) to safeguard your firm. This session will also feature contributions from Nicholas Scullion, Managing Director of Scullion Law, who will share his first-hand experience of navigating a cyber breach that threatened to cripple his practice. Nicholas will share his personal experience of the attack, how they managed the crisis, and the key steps they had to take to emerge stronger.

This session will provide practical tips to safeguard your firm, valuable insights based on lived experience, and lessons that can help enhance your firms cybersecurity resilience.

* Murphy, G. (2025) '65% of law firms have been a victim of a cyber incident', The Law Society, 28 January

All delegates will receive a curated list of free resources to support their cyber response planning after attending the session.

Who is this course for?

This session is for all legal professionals, including solicitors, in-house counsel, and law firm staff involved in risk management and cybersecurity planning.

Cyber threats can impact any firm, regardless of size or expertise. Understanding the risks and having a Cyber Incident Response Plan (CIRP) in place is crucial to protecting your firm from financial, legal, and reputational damage. This course will help you recognise that a cyber incident could happen to you and provide the tools to prepare, respond, and recover effectively.

Learning outcomes

  • Identify the legal, financial and reputational risks associated with a cyber incident
  • Understand the importance of having a CIRP
  • Build the foundations of your firm’s CIRP
  • Assess real world challenges and solutions to cyber threats within the legal profession
  • Explore free resources to help strengthen your firm’s cybersecurity posture
