With an aging population Scotland has seen an increase in the separation of partners in long term marriages, gaining the name ‘grey divorce’. Grey divorces often come with a plethora of complexities that will be explored in this one-hour webinar.

Our expert speaker will consider the different legal intricacies involved in a case of grey divorce as compared to the divorce of a younger couple. Potential previous marriages, children, increased assets and generally more complex dynamics all set grey divorces apart from others. Consideration will be given to the challenges of pensions, inheritance rights, and the applications of pre or postnuptial agreements in the dissolution of these long-standing relationships. This webinar will suite family law practitioners as well as private client lawyers more generally.

Learning outcomes:

  • Learn why ‘grey divorces’ can be more legally complex than those of a newly married couple

  • Discover how previous marriages, children and increased assets complicate a divorce later in life

  • Analyse the impact of grey divorce on pensions, inheritance, and nuptial agreements
