Attend this one-day training course, run by our Financial Compliance Team, to get an extensive and up-to-date overview of the current Accounts Rules and accounting records required in manual bookkeeping.

Compliance with the Accounts Rules and record keeping requirements is essential for every Scottish Solicitors’ Practice Unit. It is critical that the Rule requirements are understood to ensure that all of the required books and records are accurate, correctly held and maintained, and that systems and procedures are kept up to date.

Learning outcomes:

  • Knowledge on how to maintain the required accounting records on a manual system, including the maintenance of cashbooks, client ledgers and firms accounting records
  • Insight into the procedure required to complete monthly/quarterly reports and reconciliations required by the Accounts Rules
  • Full overview of the compliance requirements of the Accounts Rules
  • Understanding on how to complete the Accounts Certificate which must be submitted digitally online to the Law Society every six months, or annually depending on whether a client account / client funds are held
