Covid is reshaping the debate about wellbeing and the workplace. Within the legal profession, the propulsion forward of new working practices has already led to profound questions about the future ‘new normal’. Lawyers have traditionally been more susceptible to wellbeing challenges, often partly attributable to a culture within the profession of long hours, relentless competition and stressful environments. This session will explore the social and generational changes afoot, look at the legal profession within that context, and interrogate some of the big issues that have led to wellbeing becoming one of the core determinants in our professional lives.

Join our speakers for a discussion on some of the reasons reasons lawyers are susceptible to mental health problems, including:

  • Nature of work and cultural norms
  • Mindset: Fear of failure, burden of responsibility
  • Gender and demographic distinctions
  • Breadth of issues experienced (burnout, stress, addiction)
  • Global trends and initiatives
  • Mindful Business Charter
