Recertification for 2 years + 6 hours verifiable CPD
This course is specifically designed for previous delegates of the Law Society of Scotland Risk Management and Governance Certification Course whose certification is up for renewal. Successful completion of the course will result in recertification for 2 years as well as 6 hours of verifiable CPD.
Join us online on 25 & 29 September or get the chance to network with your fellow certification holders on Friday 6 October at our Edinburgh offices. There will be an optional drinks reception following the end of the in-person training day on 6 October.
What will the course cover?
Reflections on Risk Management since your course
We revisit some basics explored on the original course to consider how delegates applied their understanding to their organisation and management. We will revisit risk appetite, risk tools and crisis management. We ask delegates prepare examples of issues that they have identified as challenges in risk management.
Organisational Resilience
Since Covid-19 and the financial crisis, resilience building has been an increased area of focus for risk managers. How can we, as lawyers and compliance officers, build resilience in our teams and organisations? We will use a case study to show how we build a resilient AML risk management structure.
Soft controls
What soft controls can an organisation build into its risk management programmes, particularly around governance and compliance? We consider how to build and enhance soft controls to improve risk decision making. In particular we look at soft controls in the context of managing assurance and compliance risks.
Emerging Risks – A discussion
In this session, delegates are invited to think about and discuss emerging risks (strategic and assurance) that their organisations face and the steps that could be taken to manage those risks. We will facilitate the session and there will be some thoughts from the facilitator to supplement the discussion.
To achieve recertification, delegates will be required to submit a written answer to questions relating to the material covered in the day. Answers will need to demonstrate an understanding of relevant aspects of the law.
