Having an openness to understanding what makes a good leader, and not just a likeable or agreeable one, requires sober analysis and a number of essential component parts to be in place. Our new Leadership Programme for Lawyers is designed to provide those in management positions with the essential skills needed to excel in leadership roles. Whether you are a new manager, a seasoned professional, or simply looking to brush up on your leadership skills, our series of practical seminars will have something in it to enhance your people skills.
In this series of practical webinars you will learn how to:

- Get the best from your team through effective management and collaborative teamwork
- Develop advanced skills in influence and negotiation to achieve successful outcomes for your firm

Made up of six distinct modules, this programme will help equip and inform solicitor members on how to perform the other part of your job away from black letter law: being a successful manager and a thoughtful leader. Each session will be highly participative and will address the differing needs and wants of the group.

Webinar 5 (6th August 2024, 11:00-13:00): Negotiation Skills
This online workshop explores a variety of techniques on negotiating and how to get the best outcome for all parties. The session will offer practical tips on how to understand the importance of achieving mutually acceptable results, recognising what is and what’s not negotiable and how to deal with difficult situations.
- To explore the characteristics of strong negotiators
- Understand your own personality type in relation to negotiation styles. Learn to negotiate in a way that is authentic to yourself
- To emphasise the importance of understanding the driving forces behind negotiations
- To improve deal making and understand what is negotiable and what’s not
- To recognise the concept of win-win scenarios and creating long-lasting client relations, even in tricky situations
Webinar 6 (10th September, 11:00-13:00): Influencing and Assertive Skills
This online workshop explores a variety of techniques of influencing skills, and how to get your point across in an influential manner. The session will offer practical tips on how to recognise different influencing styles and understand the importance of delivering attractions propositions in an assertive style.
- To define what influencing is and how to use it to make clear proposals.
- To recognise different influencing styles and how to tailor your style to accommodate the situation.
- The use of the PROEP model to structure your proposal in an attractive way
- To improve assertive skills to keep your proposal accurate, brief, and concise.
- To develop confidence to make things happen
