With an aging population Scotland has seen an increase in the separation of partners in long term marriages. Divorces occurring later in life often come with a plethora of complexities that will be explored in this one-hour webinar.
Lydia McLachlan, Senior Associate at Brodies, will consider the different legal intricacies involved when divorce occurs later in life as compared to the divorce of a younger couple. Potential previous marriages, children, increased assets and generally more complex dynamics all set these divorces apart from others. Consideration will be given to the challenges of pensions, inheritance rights, and the applications of pre or postnuptial agreements in the dissolution of these long-standing relationships. This webinar will suite family law practitioners as well as private client lawyers more generally.
Learning outcomes:
Learn why divorce later in life can be more legally complex than those of a newly married couple
