Collected news of Scottish legal appointments and practice changes
13th November 2023

BALFOUR+MANSON, Edinburgh and Aberdeen has promoted to partner, Peter Littlefair (Litigation) and Will Wallace (Residential Conveyancing) in the Edinburgh office, and to senior associate, Sophie Pike (Family Law) in the Aberdeen office.

The firm has also introduced a new role of senior solicitor and has promoted to this position Alannah Jones (Medical Negligence), Kenzie Howard (Employment); Martin Lavery (Private Client), and Donde Thiam and Emily Deans (both Family Law), all in Edinburgh; and Katie Albiston (Family Law), and Iona Campbell and Diana MacKenzie (both Personal Injury), all in Aberdeen.

BLACKADDERS LLP, Dundee and elsewhere, has appointed Neil Crockatt as partner and head of Residential Property. He joins from YOUR CONVEYANCER LTD.

BROWN & McRAE, Fraserburgh and Turriff, are pleased to announce that Sharon McKilligin will join their Turriff office as a Family Law associate, from MACKIE & DEWAR.

CLYDE & CO, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and internationally, has appointed Jamie Devlin as an associate in the Insurance, Professional Disputes & Finance Department. He joins from ANDERSON STRATHERN.

DAC BEACHCROFT, Edinburgh, Glasgow and internationally, has appointed Alan Eadie and Lynne Cardow as partners specialising in professional indemnity work. They join from BTO SOLICITORS in Glasgow, along with senior associate Gillian Harman and solicitor Stuart Craig.

DHM LAW LTD has opened for practice from 247 West George Street, Glasgow G2 4QE. The partners are Gail Docherty, Michael Hankinson and Callum McInnes, all previously with MACDONALD HENDERSON.

DWF LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and internationally, has appointed Calum Mathieson, previously with PLEXUS LAW, as a partner in its Insurance team, along with fraud solicitor Zahra Bhatti, recoveries solicitor Megan Calder, newly qualified solicitor Dominic Roberts, and litigation paralegals Claire Blain, Lucy Armstrong, Arianne O’Hare, Alice Flynn, Christine Donnachie, Aimee Connacher, Shannon Brown and Danielle McAtee.

Seven newly qualified solicitors taking up roles are Greg Robertson (Dispute Resolution), Katrina Hall (Corporate Services), Heather Brooks (Commercial), Gary MacInnes (Finance Litigation), James Callender (Construction), Dominic Roberts (Insurance), and Natasha Walker (Banking).

KEE SOLICITORS, Glasgow, has appointed Konrad Queen as a senior solicitor in the Conveyancing and Private Client departments. He joins from HARTER & CO.

MACNABS LLP, Perth, Pitlochry, Blairgowrie and Bridge of Allan, has opened a new property hub at 75 Kinnoull Street, Perth PH1 5EZ.

MINSTER LAW, Wakefield, specialist personal injury firm, has opened a Scottish office at 39 St Vincent Place, Glasgow G1 2ER. Marina Harper, previously with HARPER MACLEOD, has been appointed as executive director of the new MINSTER LAW SCOTLAND.

SHAKESPEARE MARTINEAU, Edinburgh and UK wide, has appointed Fiona Pask as partner and head of Dispute Resolution, based in Edinburgh. She joins from HARPER MACLEOD.

THOMPSONS, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Galashiels, has promoted Joel Shaw, Amy Haughton, Jillian MacKenzie and Richard Singer to partner, and Nicola Thompson, Nathalie Axelsson, Robert Cranston, Jennifer Lilly and Stephanie Young to associate.

THORNTONS LAW, Dundee and elsewhere, has appointed Joanne Todd as legal director in Private Client, in Dundee, and Hannah Grace and Megan Craig (both Business Law, Glasgow), Annie Muir (Personal Injury, Dundee), Maxine Chiverton (Private Client, Perth), and Denny Christison (Private Client, St Andrews) as solicitors.

TLT LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and UK wide, has appointed to its Real Estate team property finance specialist Fiona Armour (formerly with MACROBERTS) as legal director, and future energy expert Monika Koczwara (formerly with BRODIES) as associate, both in Glasgow; and Amy Campbell (formerly with CMS) and Caroline Grubb (formerly with LINDSAYS), also specialists in future energy, as managing associate and associate respectively, in Edinburgh.

WRIGHT, JOHNSTON & MACKENZIE, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Dunblane and Dunfermline, has announced the following promotions. In Dunblane, Mirella Marchini (Private Client) becomes partner and Karen Crothers (Property), legal director. In Inverness, Kirstin MacDonald (Corporate & Commercial) and Hannah Prentice (Private Client) become senior associates. In Edinburgh, Lyndsey Mackay (Private Client) becomes senior solicitor. In Glasgow, Fiona Kempsell (Residential Conveyancing) becomes senior associate, and Iona Whyte (Family Law), senior solicitor. The firm has appointed three NQ solicitors on completion of their traineeships: Rebecca Seaton, Hilary Steer and Christina MacDonald.

Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie has also announced its acquisition of Inverness practice MACANDREW & JENKINS WS LTD, whose partners become partners in Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie.
