Collected news of new appointments and practice changes
18th January 2016

ABERDEIN CONSIDINE, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has appointed eight new partners. Employment lawyer Sally-Anne Ogilvie has rejoined the firm from HARPER MACLEOD and will lead the employment law department. Promoted to partner are property lawyers Chris Comfort, Sean MacMillan and Doug Telfer, in Aberdeen, West Lothian and Glasgow respectively; Ryan Fox (wills, trusts and executries) and Isabelle Douglas (family), who both work across the north-east, and Ross Webb and Paul McIntosh (both dispute resolution, Edinburgh). Solicitors Catriona Milne, Jennifer Yeats, Leah Bowman and Samantha Gilbert have been promoted to associate. 

ANDERSONBAIN LLP, Aberdeen and Edinburgh, announce that Faye Walker has been promoted to partner with effect from 1 January 2016.

BRECHIN TINDAL OATTS (bto) solicitors, Glasgow and Edinburgh, announces the appointment of criminal solicitor advocate Alasdair Gillies and employment lawyer Laura Salmond as partners in its Glasgow office. Both join from LEVY & McRAE.

FYFE McDONALD LTD announces that it has opened as a new specialist private client legal practice. Fiona McDonald, Law Society of Scotland accredited specialist in private client tax law (formerly at PAGAN OSBORNE), heads the new practice. The company’s offices are at 43A Argyle Street, St Andrews KY16 9BX.

GRAY & CONNOCHIE, Aberdeen are delighted to announce the appointment of their associate Fiona Margaret Thomson as a partner with effect from 1 January 2016.

GRAY & GRAY, Peterhead and Ellon, announce the retirement of Christopher Gallon and Gail Wiggins as partners of the firm with effect from 31 December 2015. The firm becomes an incorporated LLP, GRAY & GRAY LLP, with effect from 1 January 2016. The members will be the previous partners Brian Jamieson and Claire Reilly, along with previous associate Jane Dickers. Christopher Gallon will be consultant with the LLP. Andrew Ormiston, formerly with DAVID E SUTHERLAND, Aberdeen, joins the LLP as an associate.

HARPER MACLEOD, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Thurso and Lerwick, announces the promotion to associate of Donna Cooper (energy and natural resources, Edinburgh), and Colette Miller (public sector, Glasgow).

HBJ GATELEY, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and elsewhere, announces the appointment as partners of Nicholas Taylor and Paul Ockrim, both property lawyers who join the Glasgow office from LESLIE WOLFSON & CO, and intellectual property lawyer Helena Brown, who joins the Edinburgh office from BURNESS PAULL.

JAMESON & MACKAY, Perth and Auchterarder, are pleased to announce the assumption of Stephen Inglis as a partner in their Auchterarder office.

MORISONS SOLICITORS, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has appointed Andrew Warren as a partner heading the firm’s Real Estate team based in Glasgow. He was formerly a partner and head of real estate in Scotland with IRWIN MITCHELL.

MORTON FRASER, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, announces the appointment to its family law team of Savita Sharma, who moves from England to join the Edinburgh office as a consultant, and Marisa Cullen, who joins the Glasgow office as an associate from WRIGHT & CRAWFORD, Paisley.

NEILL CLERK & MURRAY, Greenock, are delighted to announce the appointment of Pauline Isabella Ward as a partner with effect from 1 January 2016.

Robin Andrew Priestley, latterly of BRODIES LLP, announces that he has commenced practice as specialised landownership investigation service WHOSE LAND SCOTLAND, operating from 4 Kettilstoun Crescent, Linlithgow EH49 6PR (tel 07867 387591; email info@whoselandscotland.co.uk; web www.whoselandscotland.co.uk).

RAEBURN CHRISTIE CLARK & WALLACE, Aberdeen, Banchory, Ellon, Inverurie and Stonehaven, announces the appointment as partner of Neil Fraser, who joins from ABERDEIN CONSIDINE & CO to head the firm’s employment department, and the promotion to partner of Barbara Calderwood (commercial property) and Jennifer Burnett (private client). They are pictured in the magazine with recent arrivals Gordon Davidson and Alasdair Smith. 

SHEPHERD & WEDDERBURN, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and London, announces the promotion to partner of Katie Russell (employment) and Caroline Shand (real estate and infrastructure). The firm also announces the appointment of a three partner team to its restructuring and insolvency practice: Yvonne Brady, Fiona McKerrell and John Gallacher join in the new year from HBJ GATELEY.

THORNTONS LAW LLP, Dundee and elsewhere, has appointed Hugo Allan as a partner in the Edinburgh office. He joins from MORTON FRASER.

WARNERS SOLICITORS LLP, Edinburgh, are pleased to announce the appointment of Jim MacLachlan as an associate from 1 January 2016. Jim is based at the firm’s office at 22 St Patrick Square, Edinburgh.
