Collected news of new appointments and practice changes
19th August 2019

ABERDEIN CONSIDINE, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has appointed Karen Harvie as a senior associate in employment law in its Edinburgh office. She joins from SHOOSMITHS.

ANDERSON STRATHERN, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Haddington, has appointed corporate specialist Euan Tripp as a partner. He joins from BRODIES. 

BALFOUR+MANSON, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, has appointed Adelle Walker, who joins from DIGBY BROWN, and Peter Littlefair, who joins from LYONS DAVIDSON, as associates in its Personal Injury team.

BLM (BERRYMANS LACE MAWER LLP), Glasgow, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has made two promotions in Scotland as part of a wider round: Kirsty Yuill, from associate to partner in Personal Injury; and Kirsteen Picken, from solicitor to associate in Insurance Litigation.

BTO SOLICITORS LLP, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has appointed  Will Cole, previously a director with BURNESS PAULL, as a partner in its Commercial Litigation team in Edinburgh.

CMS UK, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has appointed contentious IP specialist Neeraj Thomas as an of counsel in the firm’s Technology & Media practice in Glasgow. He joins from BURNESS PAULL, where he was a senior associate.

Stephen Cullen, solicitor, a partner in MILES & STOCKBRIDGE, Washington DC, has been appointed as an Abogado Consultor (Advocate) to the Mexican Embassy in DC.

DELANEY GRAHAM SOLICITORS has begun practice as from 1 August 2019, at 196 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4HG (t: 0141 483 4450; f: 0141 483 4455). The partners are Siân Delaney and Michael Graham, both formerly of LSO LTD. 

DRUMMOND MILLER LLP, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has promoted Linsey Ferguson to partner in the Family Law team, Elizabeth Rose, who heads the Litigation team in the Glasgow office, to senior associate, and Jennifer Gilmour, Lorna Hale, Cheryl Gallagher and Anna Rani to associate. Following the retirement of conveyancing partner Alasdair Buchanan, the firm has appointed Wilson Browne, previously with ABERDEIN CONSIDINE, and Janette Kenny, previously with MORISONS LLP, as senior associates in its Property team. 

DWF LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has announced a series of promotions across its Scottish teams: Jennifer Wright to senior associate in Employment; Andrew McConnell to senior associate in Professional Indemnity; Alan McDonald to senior associate in Commercial Litigation; Mikela Rochford to associate in Banking; Emma Frizzle to manager in Real Estate; and Ilze Kucina to lead paralegal in Occupational Health. 

INNES JOHNSTON LLP, Kirkcaldy, Leven and Glenrothes, announces the retirement of partner T J Macaskill as of 31 July 2019, and the assumption of associates Stewart MacGregor (Commercial & Residential Property) and Claire Forbes (Private Client), both as partners from 1 August 2019. 

JAMESON & MACKAY, Perth and Auchterarder, intimate that Susan Gordon Harrison resigned as a partner and trustee of the firm with effect from 15 April 2019. They are also delighted to announce that Megan Joiner has been made an associate of the firm with effect from 1 July 2019. 

LINDSAYS, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee, has announced the promotion of associate Andrew Duff who becomes a director in the Rural Services team. 

MOV8 REAL ESTATE, estate agents and solicitors, Edinburgh, Glasgow and elsewhere has promoted Gavin Pearson from associate to director of conveyancing services within its Conveyancing department. 

MOV8 Real Estate also announces that Tracy McAlpine has joined as head of New Build, from a similar position at McVEY & MURRICANE. 

THE PRG PARTNERSHIP, Solicitors, Glasgow, Kirkintilloch, Clydebank and Erskine, intimates the retiral of James Donald Graham as a partner of the firm on 30 June 2019. Mr Graham will remain associated with the firm as a consultant. The remaining partners wish to thank Mr Graham for his long service to the firm and wish him a happy retirement. 

REA LAW, Glasgow, is pleased to announce that Xing Zhu has been promoted to associate
within the firm. 

SHEPHERD & WEDDERBURN, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, London and Singapore, has opened an office in the Republic of Ireland, at 8 Herbert Lane, Dublin D02 XE18. The office is led by Paul Carlyle and Joanna Boag-Thomson, partners in the firm’s Media & Technology team, and Gordon Downie, partner in EU & Competition. 

Shepherd & Wedderburn has also appointed solicitor Kirsten McKinnon to the Private Client team in its Aberdeen office. She joins from BURNETT & REID. 

STRONACHS LLP, Aberdeen and Inverness, has announced the following promotions: Jamie Hunter and Deborah Law to senior associate; Callum Armstrong, Laura Bisset and Aulo Vallarino to associate; and Annika Neukirch and Raiya Law to senior solicitor. 

THOMPSONS SOLICITORS, Glasgow and elsewhere, has promoted senior solicitors Kieran Smith (Glasgow), Marina Urie (Galashiels) and Natalie Donald (Galashiels) to associate level.

TLT LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has appointed two senior procurement specialists: Caroline Ramsay, partner, who was previously a partner at PINSENT MASONS; and Iain Steel, chief procurement services officer, previously with consultancy TMC PROFESSIONAL.

TLT has also appointed Catharine MacDonald, who joins from ASHURST, as legal director in its Banking & Finance team in Glasgow. 

WATERMANS SOLICITORS LTD and WATERMANS LEGAL LTD, Edinburgh and Glasgow, have moved their Edinburgh office to larger premises at 5-10 Dock Place, Edinburgh EH6 6LU. 

WRIGHT, JOHNSTON & MACKENZIE LLP, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dunfermline and Inverness, has acquired the practice of CALUM I DUNCAN CORPORATE LAWYERS, Inverness, whose principal Calum Duncan has announced his retirement on 30 June 2019.
